30 Spiritual Warfare Prayers Through the Name of Jesus

There are seasons when you pray and still feel as though something is resisting your progress.

You pray for peace, but the fear returns. You pray for your family, but the same troubling pattern keeps appearing. You try to move forward, but one problem seems to replace another. Sometimes the battle is not simply about what is happening around you; it is also about what is happening within your faith, your thoughts, your home, and your spiritual life.

If you are going through such a season, do not allow fear to become your response to spiritual warfare. Learn to stand in the authority of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…” — Ephesians 6:12, NKJV

Christian spiritual warfare is not about becoming obsessed with demons, looking for an enemy behind every problem, or attacking people. It is about standing firmly in Christ, resisting evil, praying according to God’s Word, and trusting the authority of Jesus.

And one of the greatest weapons God has given the believer is the name of Jesus.

The Name of Jesus Is Not an Empty Religious Phrase

There is a difference between simply saying “Jesus” and understanding the authority represented by His name.

The name of Jesus represents His authority, identity, lordship, power and victory.

When believers pray in the name of Jesus, they are not using His name as a magical formula. We are approaching God through Christ and standing upon what Christ has accomplished.

The Bible connects the name of Jesus with salvation, authority, healing, access to the Father and universal lordship.

Salvation: Acts 4:12
Authority over demons: Mark 16:17
Healing: Acts 3:6
Access to the Father: John 16:23
Authority over every power: Philippians 2:9–11
Protection and refuge: Proverbs 18:10

That is why learning to pray in the name of Jesus matters.

I remember a woman who shared a testimony that has stayed with me.

She had experienced repeated miscarriages. According to the testimony she shared, she would regularly have a disturbing dream in which a ram chased her. In the dream, the ram would eventually hit her, and she would see herself bleeding before she woke up.

She told us that whenever she became pregnant, she would have this dream, and she would subsequently lose the pregnancy.

Then she became converted and accepted Jesus Christ.

Her testimony was that the pattern changed after she came to Christ.

I share this story carefully because a personal testimony should not be presented as a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. Pregnancy loss can have many medical causes, and anyone experiencing recurrent miscarriage should seek appropriate medical care. But what struck me about her testimony was the way she connected her spiritual experience, her conversion, and the change she believed followed.

It reminded me of something important:

People are not only looking for information about spiritual warfare. Many are looking for hope.

They want to know how to pray when they feel attacked.

They want to know what Scripture says.

They want to know whether they can call upon Jesus in the middle of the battle.

And that is one reason I have continued to teach believers about living a victorious Christian life.

The First Divine Weapon: The Name of Jesus

During a Sunday service where I was teaching on living a victorious Christian life, I spoke about three divine weapons available to the believer.

The first one was the name of Jesus.

Why?

Because Christianity is centered on a Person.

Our victory is not ultimately in our ability to shout louder, pray longer, or find the perfect prayer formula.

Our confidence is in Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:9–11 teaches that God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name that is above every name.

The authority belongs to Christ.

The believer’s confidence comes from belonging to Christ.

And our prayers are offered through Him.

That changes the way we approach spiritual warfare.

Instead of praying from panic, we pray from faith.

Instead of magnifying the enemy, we magnify Jesus.

Instead of constantly asking, “What is attacking me?” we also ask, “What has God already given me in Christ?”

How to Pray Spiritual Warfare Prayers Correctly

Before you begin the 30 prayers below, understand this:

Spiritual warfare is not warfare against people.

Ephesians 6:12 says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.

So when someone mistreats you, do not automatically turn that person into your spiritual enemy.

Pray for God’s intervention.

Ask for wisdom.

Set appropriate boundaries.

Forgive where Scripture calls you to forgive.

Seek help when necessary.

And resist the spiritual influences that oppose God’s will without turning people into targets.

James 4:7 gives a simple pattern:

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Notice the order:

Submit to God.

Resist the devil.

The power of spiritual warfare begins with our relationship with God.

How to Use These Spiritual Warfare Prayers

Do not rush through these prayers simply because there are 30 of them.

You can choose three to five prayer points each day and spend time praying through the Scriptures attached to them.

For example:

Morning

Begin with thanksgiving.

Read Ephesians 6:10–18.

Ask God to strengthen you for the day.

Pray the protection, discernment, and spiritual-strength prayers.

During the Day

When fear, temptation, confusion, or discouragement comes, stop and pray.

You don’t need to wait for midnight before you call on Jesus.

Remember that the authority of Jesus is not limited to a particular hour of the day.

At Night

Thank God for His protection.

Review your day.

Confess any sin that needs to be confessed.

Pray for your family.

Commit your dreams, thoughts, plans, and future to God.

Then rest.

Prayer is not meant to leave you more afraid than when you started. It should draw you closer to God.

Three Things to Remember When You Are Under Spiritual Pressure

1. Don’t Make the Devil Bigger Than Jesus

One danger in teaching spiritual warfare is spending so much time talking about darkness that people become more conscious of Satan than they are of Christ.

That is not the goal.

The focus of Christian warfare should ultimately remain Jesus.

Colossians 2:15 points believers to Christ’s victory over spiritual powers.

Your attention should not be consumed by fear.

Look to Jesus.

2. Don’t Treat Every Problem as a Demonic Attack

This is important.

Not every financial problem is a demonic attack.

Not every sickness is caused by a demon.

Not every failed relationship is spiritual warfare.

Not every bad dream requires a deliverance session.

Sometimes you need prayer.

Sometimes you need repentance.

Sometimes you need better decisions.

Sometimes you need medical treatment.

Sometimes you need financial wisdom.

Sometimes you need counseling.

Sometimes you need to apologize.

Sometimes you need to forgive.

And sometimes you simply need patience.

Spiritual maturity means knowing the difference.

3. Don’t Fight People With Your Prayers

Ephesians 6:12 says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.

So don’t turn your prayer life into hatred for people.

Ask God to deal with injustice.

Ask Him to expose what needs to be exposed.

Ask Him to protect you.

Ask Him to give you wisdom.

Ask Him to change hearts.

And leave vengeance in God’s hands.

Romans 12:19 reminds believers that vengeance belongs to God.
